A little inconsistent
What seems like many years ago, I bought an Otto Link NY model 8 while I was in college. I tried three other regular Otto Links and each one of them sounded completely different. Apparently theyÆre inconsistent. If you're going to buy one I suggest trying at lease 4 or 5 of the same model, and the s...

OK mouthpiece- inside not consistent all the way through.
I like this mouthpiece, but two things bothered me- one being that the quality of individual mouthpieces seems to inconsistent. There is an uneven portion between the main bore of the mouthpiece, and the largest end of the tip opening- yet some people talk about how great it is. I bought mine about ...

Guess I Got Lucky
Verified Reviewer
Reading some of the other reviewers, it seems that consistency from the company that makes these mouthpieces is an issue. I guess I got lucky! My mouthpiece looks, feels, and sounds great! I am really enjoying it and am glad to add it to my useable mouthpiece collection. It's maybe not for beginners. My only issue with the mouthpiece is that its length causes me to be on the flat side. So, I have to push in until there is no cork left showing on my sax neck. Other than that, I love this mouthpiece.
I would not recommend due to manufacturing/QC issues
I play a Woodstone tenor, jazz and pop.
Good craftsmanship and plays well.
I have played Otto Link mouthpieces for two decades, and the Otto Link NY (large chamber) 10* has the largest tip opening of any stock mouthpiece that I am aware of (0.135"), so I purchased it and like it a lot, although I probably would have purchased the smaller-chambered Otto Link STM if it had been available in size 10*.
Facing too long
The facing is too long for the 10* opening. That means that you need a big bite which means you cannot play subtone. I have other mouthpieces as open as this one (Berg 130, Berg 150 which had the same problem and was refaced down to 132, and a custom made piece with a 150 opening) with the appropriate facing. I think there is very little demand for very open mouthpieces and they have forgotten how to make them. Too bad, because they play easier and are more versatile than closer ones.
I will never buy another mouthpiece
I've bought plenty of mouthpieces over the years but none of those play like this one. The sound is phenomenal.
I should not have to buy this product again .
Otto link mouthpiece is very good. I am using it on my 43 year old Yamaha YTS61. It has a rich sound and is very easy to blow. Not as bright as I had hoped but still an excellent piece.
Being honest
Ok. I admit it. I have zero musical ability and can't speak about the sound and quality of this mouthpiece My son plays tenor saxophone in the high school Symphony, marching and pep bands. He asked for mouthpiece for his birthday. He LOVES it. That is what matters!
Good playing mouthpiece but plan on getting a different liga
I ordered a factory restock version. When I first played it, it was very inconsistent, but that is contributed to the standard ligature nor working correctly. The plate did not sit flat on the reed and did not get a good seal on the mouthpiece. I could also not get it tight enough after I was able to get it straightened out. I ended up using a ligature made of Velcro and it functioned much better. Good sound, not bright, but also response. In looking for aftermarket ligatures this will not take your standard metal tenor ligature as it is bigger and has the larger chamber (which I like because it makes a darker sound). The Rovner SS3MLNY Star is suppose to fit as well as the as well as the Rovner 3ML Tenor Saxophone Dark Ligature for Metal Mouthpiece.
