I had the number for of this mouthpiece that came with my yanagisawa 990 that I bought back in 1996 it played pretty good at first did I put my horn down for about 15 years when I first picked it back up the mouthpiece still played okay but after I gotten better I noticed the restriction so I moved to the 6th and that solved my problem it blows very freely I've only had it a week.

Great Mouthpiece

I love this mouthpiece. It has a wonderful, dark, rich tone. It's very easy to control, but is still responsive. I wouldn't use it if I was playing a rock gig, but the Yanigasawa is my go-to piece if I'm playing with a big band or in a horn section.

Great Response and Intonation

I've been using a 7 facing for 3-4 years now. I have tried other MPs since but I always come back this one. Some oline reviews says this is a student MP, but they underestimate it (probably because it comes standard with Yani pro horns)! I use this professionally. It is great in the altissimo register too. Great clear tone, great intonation. Also, when I purchased it from WW&BW I had them send me 3 of the same facing and I could not tell them apart! Very consistent, you can buy a backup MP at the same time....no worries.

great all around mouthpiece

It's about time that a professional sax would actually be equipped with a not just decent but stellar mouthpiece. This baby comes standard with the Yanagisawa saxophones. It is very comfortable and plays with great depth and a nice dark roundness. This is a mouthpiece good for everything, but not zoned to just a particular style. It is great for all skill levels. Highly recommended.
